Sky arrived back at the house about ten minutes later, just as it was turning into night. She was relieved when she saw the cottage in the distance, for the sounds of a forest at dusk, especially a strange one, were not comforting. When she reached the cottage and opened the door, Allison was just reading the note. "Ah, come here honey, welcome to your new home! No, our new home!" Sky just nodded and smiled at her aunt, she would wait till later to tell her about Kat. Her aunt said the furniture was coming tomorrow, and that her horses would in the stable at Willow Creek as soon as the owner accepted. At this Sky smiled and laughed, she was truly happy now that her horses were coming here, coming home. Sky and Allison just walked around their new house and got to know it, learned any knooks or crannies that were there, and then just stood in the main room and just it absorbed all, heads swimming and faces glowing.

"Um Sky, that old lady told me something very interesting I think you will love." Sky and Allison were sitting in the window seat of what they had decided would be Sky's room, looking out the window into their new yard. Sky turned to her aunt and nodded. "Go on, shoot." Allison grinned a very childish grin, and her eyes were sparkling ever so lightly. "Well, the old lady told me, that because we had horses she threw in a small extra plot of land she was originally going to just give to the town. I guess it is through a trail behind the house, only a couple minutes walk, and on it is a ten stall barn with all the essentials, enough paddocks for 10 or 12 horses, and room for arenas. There aren't any riding rings, but like I said, there is room for them and for now you can always use the public rings. It needs a bit of work, but really not that much, maybe a day or two with two people and some serious elbow grease. I don't think I have to even ask, do I? I can tell by your face you want to." Sky's face was a bright as a light bulb, her eyes shining and her mouth gaping. "Oh my god yes yes yes! Oh Auntie, this is amazing! Could we really? Oh wow! I, I, when can we start?" Allison smiled warmly this time. "Well, today's Thursday, right? So that means tomorrow the moving guys are coming with the furniture, so I was thinking Friday we could head over, check it out, see what we need for it, then go get whatever we do need, and the Saturday and Sunday we could work on it. Then, if we cancel the plans with the boarding stable and give the new address to Mr. Highner, I figure if we really work to get the barn done, we can get the horses home on Monday or Tuesday. That of course, if you accept." Sky was stupefied for a moment, her mouth gaping, but then her voice came. "Oh my god, yes yes yes! I promise, I will do all the work, I'll pay for it all, I, I, I won't let you down! Thank you so much, you have no idea what this means to me!" Allison just smiled and gave Sky a hug. "I knew you'd love it, and I'm glad. But we have to get up early to prepare for the movers, so let's go to bed. It also might take us awhile to get to sleep on this hard floor. Allison then just looked disdainfully at their sleeping accommodations for the night, sighed, and then she and Sky got ready for bed. They got comfortable and fell asleep, Allison's mind buzzing with thoughts of the movers, and Sky with imaginings of the barn.

It was two days later and Sky was whistling softly as her and Allison went through the path to the barn. Allison was voicing her worries. "What if we get lost?" "What if the barn is a wreck?" "What if we can't fix it?" "We already have them coming, what if the barn is unfixable?" "Oh I hope it will all be okay..." Sky would just shake her head and say "It will be fine, for the million time, and if the barn is in bad shape I can keep the horses in the paddock until the barn is all done! It will be F-I-N-E fine." Finally the path fell away and a fine, old-fashioned, irish type built barn stood surrounded by well placed, knee-high grass filled paddocks to it's left and right and rolling hills setting an amazing backround to the back. Allison just said "Oh how nice." Sky on the other hand was speechless. All she could say before everything really hit her was "Oh my god." Then it hit her, and she grabbed Allison's hand and half ran half skipped towards the barn. She let go of her aunt's hand when she got to the barn door. The slid open easily, and hot musty air came sliding out. But Among that air was a faint smell of old leather and wood shavings that had faded over time. Sky opened her eyes. The stalls, the rooms, the build, everything in the barn just said old irish/english, the stalls were like those you see in the rich woman's barn in Black Beauty, roomy and airy. The barn was well ventilated, and when Allison flipped a couple switches by the door the barn was all of a sudden lit up like a christmas tree. Sky looked everything through thoroughly, and multiple times. She checked the stalls the paddocks, the tack rom, feed room, office, cross-ties, ect. It was still in good condition, all they would have to do was little touch-ups on loose or out-sticking nails and paddock fences. Satified, Sky and Allison headed to a hardware store to gather the needed supplies.
