Sage Russell led in her pony, Filly into the ring.
“Good girl!” She said, patting the little mare.
She stood at the pony’s side, adjusting the new saddles stirrups and jumping girth. She made her stirrups a jumping length.
She gathered the laced reins and help onto her ponies swashes mane and the pommel of the saddle. She slipped her foot into the stirrup iron and jumped up into the saddle.
Sage pushed her heels down and straightened up. She nudges the pony into a walk. The 13.3hh pony walked freely, stretching herself for a jumping round.
After a walk on each rein Sage nudges Filly into a nice forward trot. She trotted a few 20m circled then at X asked for canter.
Her mane cantered easily and on the correct leg. Sage sat it smoothly.
“Clever girl!” She said pulling the mare back to trot and patting her neck. “Shall we do some jumping, eh girl?”
She picked up her canter and turned filly to the first 3ft practice fence. The mare pulled at her bit but Sage sat in the saddle and held her in.
“One, two three!” The mare leapt over the jump.
“Good girl Filly, good girl!” Sage praised her mare as she landed.
Sage turned Filly and steadied her for the next jump. At the last three strides she let her go, leaning forward over the jump.

Sage pulled her pony up. "Hey Lottie!" She exlaimed.
