The course lay ahead, rough and challanging. My Appendix Gracie was as hot under the collar as I was. Her feet kicking the ground impatiently. Her gray neck arched and pulling at the bit. With a squeeze of my leg I cued her forwards at a trot but I knew she would have to go faster if we were to clear the jumps and still be in one piece at the end of the long and hard country course. My young mare was dancing side to side as I tryed to steady her. "Gracie, would you cool it!" I somewhat hissed under my breath. Of course after I said that I realized that her being tense wasn't her fault, she was just doing what all young green horses do when they're under stress.
