I saddled up Cinnabar and mounted up on his strong back, I gathered his reins up and cued him forward with my legs. Starting at a walk I took a deep breath and steered Cinnabar out of the barn lot and into the pasture. I pulled him to a halt at the gate and pushed him to side step so I could lean forward and open the gate. I opened the gate and walked him through then leaned over and shut the gate behind us. Cinnabar gave a soft sigh, I then turned him away from the gate and cued him into a working walk down the small slope at the bottom of the hill I stopped Cinnabar again and looked around to see if anyone else was around. The large pasture looked empty so I cued my horse with my legs and clicking of tougne into a trot "easy boy" I slowed Cinnabar to a jog. We jogged across the field, the sun beaming at us in the late afternoon sky. I steadied my boots in the stirups and placed my legs against Cinnabar's sides, I kissed the air and sent Cinnabar into a canter. I tryed to relax but I was still learning, I kept my eyes forward and tryed to focus on where my body was on Cinnabar. We followed the fence line, I turned Cinnabar early so we wouldn't crash into the fence. I kinda felt a little out of control as we cantered onward. I sat back and gently pulled back the reins "Whoa boy" Cinnabar slowed to a stop. I took a deep breath, I was still a little stiff as I cued him into a walk and headed to the gate "Well I didn't fall off" I told Cinnabar as I stroked his sweaty neck. I rode Cinnabar back to the barn feeling better about things.
