Kylie turned her small blue jeep into the gravel driveway leading up to her new house. She turned the ingnition off and stepped out. A small black/tan miniture dachshund followed her out. "Well, I guess this is it Teddy", she said to her dog. Kylie headed up the driveway to the two-story white wood house. Thw windows had green shutters and the door was matching. It looked cozy enough. She walked towards the back of the house and reliazed that her grandma wasn't joking when she had said in her will, "There will be an outstanding stable awaiting you in the back. Take care of it." The stable was immaculate. Ten blue-green pastures lined the path leading to the stable. Kylie followed the path with Teddy at her heels. She stepped into the old barn and took a long breath. Even though it was old and probably hadn't been used for a good 6 to 10 years, the barn still smelled of horse. Dust danced in the sunlight from the rafters. This was her real home. Kylie smiled in delight as she continued her own tour of the stable. In the back of the barn was a racetrack, 2 jumping arenas, a dressage arena, 3 round pens, and 2 spare arenas. There was also a handful of training pens and an indoor riding arena as well. In the far back, Kylie spied a cross-country field along with over a dozen twisting, winding trails that led through the thick forest in the back. I guess "Skittles will like it here," thought Kylie, "Yep, I think Kentucky will definetly make a good home." Kylie then headed back to the car to bring her suitcases into the house. It was just today and yet it seemed that a whole world full of adventures awaited her. She couldn't wait until Skittles arrived the next morning.

The next day........
Kylie woke up and got ready. Her horse would be arriving soon! Kylie was excited, but unfortunately the stable in the back of her house needed some renovation. Or at least the stalls did. Kylie was planning on boarding her horse at the neighboring equestrain center, Willow Creek. She was nervous about going there though. Willow Creek was known for its high prestige and competivness. Kylie hoped that she would fit in. She hopped in her blue jeep with Teddy and headed out. When she arrived, she was pleased. The stable and all the other facilites were in great shape. The jumps wore a fresh coat of paint on them, and all the horses looked happpy as they grazed and romped around in the pastures. Kylie parked and went to meet the manager. Before she could though she heard a horse trailer pulling up the drive. Excitedly she went to greet the trailer. She quickly tipped the driver, then went to the back of the trailer. She could her Skittles shifting around inside. It rocked back and forth as the stallion got more and more agitated the longer he was kept in there. "Easy boy, I'm here", Kylie called to the horse. She quickly led Skittles down the ramp. Skittles tossed his head and let out a peircing whinnie. He was greeted by many more neighs. Kylie laughed and patted her horse's neck. She then set off for the barn letting Skittles sniff everything he came accros. She took a deep breath and led Skittles into the barn.

Two months later...
After Kylie and Skittles had gotten settled in, Kylie hired some workers to fix up her barn. It would take at least 2 months before Skittles could stay there. During that time, Kylie rode Skittles in the riding arenas and practiced a few dressage courses. She also brushed up Skittle's skills in jumping. Time seemed to fly as Kylie got organized and all unpacked in her new house. Teddy was settling in fine and Kylie was making new friends all the time at Willow Creek. Soon the workers were done and stable was once again, looking beautiful and all fixed up like it probably had looked back in the older days. Kylie knew that if Skittles was to stay at the barn, he'd need a friend. So Kylie went horse shopping. She was hoping to find another Arabian, preferably a mare, so she could start her breeding program. Kylie happened upon a little farm in southern Kentucky. Since Kentucky was more into Thoroughbred racing it was hard to find an Arabian farm, yet Kylie did. As she stepped into the long red barn, she was greeted with nickers. Five delicately, dished heads poked out of the stall doors. Kylie smiled. This was how she had expected the stable to be. Arabians were just so friendly! As Kylie walked down the aisle, she spotted a gorgeous light flea-bitten grey mare. Immediatley, Kylie knew she was the one. She was sweet and friendly, and was such a gorgeous color, Kylie knew that she would be perfect for the breeding program! Kylie talked with the manager and managed to get him to sell the mare. She was 5 years old and the manager said that she was all buisness once she stepped into the ring. Kylie nodded her head and knew for sure that she was right about her choice. She had already brought Skittles home. He had settled in fine, but still seemed to miss the little chestnut he had played around with back at Willow Creek. "Skittles", Kylie called, "I have a friend for you!" Kylie led the prancing mare down the trailer ramp. Immediatlety, Skittles put up a rucus. For about an hour or two, he strutted up and down his pasture neighing and showing off to the mare. Kylie had decided to put the mare in the pasture directley accross from Skittles. The mare, who's name was Bright Hoku, also whinnied about and was flirting wildly with Skittles just like a teenager. Kylie laughed and watched as Hoku got settled in. "Hoku", Kylie thought, "the name defiently suits her!" In Hawaii, Hoku means star. From the first time Kylie spotted Hoku in the long red barn, she had thought that the mare had looked just like a star! Kylie decided to take Skittles out for a trail ride to calm him down.

A month later...
Kylie was pleased. Everything was working out perfectly. She had entered Skittles in a show jumping contest and couldn't wait to hear the results. For Skittles, the first time ever since they had moved, he had done magnificantly. Or at least that's what Kylie thought and she hoped the judges did to! After giving Skittles a week to just trail ride, she had decided to enter both him and Hoku in a local schooling show. Skittles and Hoku had settled in nicely and both of them had stopped their incessant whinning to each other. Kylie had stayed in touch with the friends she had made at Willow Creek along with the manager. Whenever she went to shows, she had to have a stable. Lucy Pinto (the manager) had agreed to let Kylie use Willow Creek as her stable. As if that weren't enough, Ms. Pinto had also let Kylie buy the little chestnut! His name was Navigator. As soon as Kylie led Navigator down the trailer ramp, Skittles acted like he was seeing a long lost friend! Kylie laughed and led Navigator over to Skittles. The two horses greeted each other. Then Kylie let Navigator meet Hoku. Hoku was pouting in the far corner of her pasture since she was the last one to greet this new arrival. Naviagtor whinnied a greeting and Hoku perked up. She sulked over acting just like a spoiled kid. "Silly girl. Come and say hi to Navigator and stop your pouting", Kylie said. She smiled as Navigator nuzzled Hoku. "Come on boy", Kylie told Navigator, "lets go see your pasture. Kylie turned out Navigator in the pasture next Skittles. The two horses romped and played with each other. Kylie laughed and cheered on the horses as they raced together along the fence line. Kylie new that Skittles was officially happy, however Hoku was still in a pouty mood. "Hoku", Kylie called to the mare, "come one. Let's go for a trail ride!"

Kylie had officially started her breeding program. Or at least half of it. She had put one of her stallions, Red Sun, up for stud. However, Kylie new that she would need more broodmares to really get things going, but she decided to take things slow and easy. Since Skittles was still in training and was mainly Katie's competion horse, Kylie had decided that Red Sun would do better. He had tons of show expereince (before Kylie had bought him) and he had such great traits about him...why not?! Now Kylie just had to wait to see what would happen.

Kylie now had officially started her breeding program! She had bought 3 pure-bred Arabian mares that were done in the halter/eventing ring. They could now be used as broodmares! Kylie was so excieted! Everything was working out perfectly! As if that weren't enough, Kylie's stalion, Red Sun, was going to breed! A girl came by and fell in love with him. Today or hopefully tommorrow, the girl will bring her mare over to the Breeding Barn to breed! Kylie couldn't wait to see what Red Sun's first foal would look like and what traits it had inherited from his father!
